TYPES OF DISTRACTED DRIVING

Texting and Driving is the first thing many of us think of when we hear the phrase ‘distracted driving’.  The truth is distracted driving is anything that takes our attention away from the road. The following is a list of actions that can cause people to shift their attention from driving:

  • Texting
  • Sending/reading e-mails
  • Posting on social media
  • Talking on a cell phone/smart phone
  • Eating and drinking
  • Adjusting a radio, CD player or digital media device
  • Talking to passengers
  • Grooming (combing hair, putting on make-up, etc.)
  • Reading (including maps)
  • Using a navigation system
  • Watching a video

Please take a pledge to avoid doing any of these activities or anything that will take your attention off of driving and encourage your family members and friends to do the same.  Alert drivers will make the roads safer for all of us to drive.
